While reading one of my training books Monday, I saw a figure of the proper pull/push technique. I've never really paid attention to the push part (sweep of arm past chest to hips), and I've never really emphasized the pull/push to aim at the pool wall behind me. In essence, a semi-circle of a sweep means at one point your hand pushes at the bottom of the pool and at another point at the top of the water. It's more efficient to have you hand pushing towards the pool behind you, since I'm not trying to move up and down but rather forward. I worked on this today and was able to feel more glide and speed in the water. It was tiring though, and my arms are feeling it now!
