BIKE 45 mins, maybe 12 miles?
COMMUTE my usual 9.5 miles
Can you believe it didn't even occur to me to find the little measuring unit for the bike?! Come to think about it, where is it? My best guess...in the tool bag under the seat. Gotta check. Poor Bird, still a trainer bike.
I had an alternate plan of riding outside. Last night the weather didn't indicate rain this morning, but it was there. No complaints. I like rain :)
Kept it simple, although it was boring. 10 mins of 30 spin-ups, then a gearing pyramid. My hands and butt weren't happy, they need more time for that. And to keep it from being boring, I should get videos from the library! And I can ride Puppy there to get them!
I wonder if my neighbors can hear the trainer humming on the floor? What happens when I start doing this really early like I usually do?
The hip doesn't feel better or worse for doing this, so maybe after some acclimation I'll settle into a pattern for this. I reminded myself yesterday of my rule that biking can help running (but not the other way around) so maybe I can offset some fitness loss doing this. Well, unless I get injured doing it, I will certainly gain something from it!
Writing this later in the day, I don't feel any pains or fatigue from the session. And I'll note that I don't have soreness like I usually do from the AbRipperX workout from yesterday. Either the BCAAs really do help that, or I'm not working hard enough.

Full moon and rain.
Last night while on the third floor I saw a bright glow in the east sky. Soon enough, a near-full moon peeked out behind the clouds! I checked, and yup -- a full moon today :)
And rain, the first rain since I moved. Of course, that means I won't be able to enjoy the full moon due to cloud cover. But it's there. Always there.
And that means I had a cold wet commute. But oh well, makes me appreciate the warmer, less remarkable days all the more.
I checked, and assuming Potawatomi 100 is April 2nd, it means I have 22 weeks until the race. 26 weeks if it's not until the 8th. My training plan is 26 weeks and starts out at 40 miles per week! I'm already behind?! When I looked at it earlier, I miscalculated and thought I had more time to heal?
Yup, just put together the excel sheet, turns out this week is week 4 already. Ugh. I was excited earlier when I was wrong!

It's been one year. Birthday Ride!!
BIKE: 26 miles in unknown time
I joined up with RM and CM to ride south to the Sylvan Springs CX race. DC was racing! But I didn't really know anyone else. This was fun -- beautiful, perfect day and a casual goal ride :) Already looking at next weekend.
One year ago today I raced B2B. And since that day, my poor Frea has sat idle. Frea and Bird just came out of the Shark for annual cleaning and tune-ups, so they are ready to roll.
What a year it's been! I'm not going to re-hash it, but I'll say that all the ups and downs and ups and downs might have been hell at times but it was worth it.
Where am I right now, and where do I want to be tomorrow? I'm still not running due to hip recovery. My build up of strength is moving ahead slowly, and I'm learning that flexibility also needs some work. I'd like to start putting in weekend swim and ride sessions, keeping it chillax but progressive. I'm looking for groups to work with, from one friend to a real group session for accountability. I haven't been to the pool since January or February when the back pains and run training amp'd up, so my first trip to the pool could be a funny disaster of poor technique and panting after 50 yards! My biking is doing OK, my longer commutes are getting easier over time and I'm not ready to set up the trainer just yet. But that the thought has crossed my mind says I'm looking for more to do.
So where to next? Start rebuilding! My mantra the past few days has been on where I want to put my life energy and my focus. I'm 40 years old now. I'm a big bee! I can make decisions for ME that are GOOD for ME, I'm not going to sacrifice my happiness anymore. I want to take care of myself, focus on my hive, and get back to that strong feeling I enjoy. Both physical and mental and dietary and health and all of that together. It's hard to put into words! But that's where I want to go in the next year -- to rebuilding my life in a new form that doesn't harm me or those around me.

RIDE 23 miles in about 1.5 hrs, RFT with RM
I'm excited to report that I did a real work out today, I didn't have goals like a normal training workout. Well, I guess my goal was to get out and do something...so WIN!
I emailed RM mid week to ask if he was riding, then invited myself along. I rode from home to the RFT park and aside from a turn-around at the Arch construction had a good in-town ride. And thankfully I had Puppy, because neither of the other bikes would have tolerated the cobblestones in the Landing (I did a wrong-way down a one-way on Morgan!) or the ride through more construction zone when I got to frustrated to find another way. Good Puppy :)
We rode out just over 30 mins, then back. Talking the entire time, mostly me wanting to catch up on fellow training partners, learning what I missed, a little talk about me on the way home. Then took an offer to be driven home afterwards. I was worried about my knee hurting more from climbing off the river, but that might have been a needless worry. Nothing hurt afterwards!

Oh my, has it been that long?!
Oh boy, how to catch up? Well simply, there's not much to say. Everyday I think about updating here, but since moving I've been on a different schedule. And I don't have internet at home, so I'm only using it at work. And this isn't a very high priority at work! But I have a few minutes now. So here goes.
I ran 4.25 miles on Tuesday the 29th, that's my most recent entry. Then nothing as I moved the weekend of Oct 2nd. It was a needed break, and I was so busy that running would have been more stressful.
So the Tuesday after the run, my first day of the New Normal, I took off to map my new Lafayette Park route. I was feeling good, my hip pain was quite minimal all weekend even with all the sleeping on the floor (3 nights!), box carrying, and stairs. The run was feeling good too, only minor hits of a niggle in the hip. But then after turning around at Park Ave, right around 2.8 miles in, WHAM -- PAIN-- and I've been hurting ever since.
It's the 16th! That was the 6th! I was limping the rest of the week, still mildly limping through the weekend, and still with a soreness that could lead to a limp right now.
No stairs at work, minimal stairs at home. Walking the dog over a mile gets painful. Some days are better than others. All chances of OT100 are gone, the deadline to register on the 14th has come and gone. Pacing TV isn't even a real possibility.
I don't have test results back yet, but I expect them any day. They'd better be conclusive, whatever the answer is I don't know if I care, but I do care that that it's conclusive. It'd better be worth all this.
Surprisingly, I'm doing OK. I'm not depressed. I've set my sights on Poto 100 in April.
In the meantime, I'm enjoying my new commute!
