RUN 10 miles in 2:02, pace 12:10 m/m
Ave HR 117 Ave cad 159
Much lower HR than yesterday, but same cadence.
Time in zones, my new metric to analyze:
44% or 54 mins in zone 1
19% or 24 mins in zone 2
Leaving about 30 mins in zone 0. Thus explaining the low HR average.
Now interestingly, yesterday's pace was 11:58, effectively the same as today. 12 seconds per mile over 25 miles is.. 300 seconds or 5 minutes. Hmmm. How is the HR so much lower today?
Another HOT morning and the heat advisory was extended into tonight. I really started late on this run, and was wavering on whether or not I should even do it. The right hip flexor (or whatever it is that hurts down the front of my lower abs/hip) really does hurt, but mostly when I'm walking the dog or still for too long. It does loosen up and feel OK pretty quickly.
But I knew that today's run was the critical one for ultra training. This is the run that hurts more, takes more mental effort, and is where the real money is. So I decided that walk or run or mix, I was doing 10 miles. My mind even tried for the "let's go to the YMCA so as to stay cooler" distraction. Shut up head.
I walked the first minutes, try to run but hip hurt, walk, try again, walk, try again. Finally got into it, following for the most part the same course as yesterday. Hahaha, I told myself that the 10-mile cheater run my head wanted to run yesterday can be today's run? Shut up head, you lose.
Once I got going, I felt fine. Steady sub-11 for most of the run, I "let" myself walk whenever I wanted to figuring that Badger and Hennepin would get the same treatment.
I wound up to Lafayette Park and did mini out-n-backs until I hit 8.3 (it's 1.7 miles home from the park corner) and then home with my new Tool songs as my reward. YES!
Same as yesterday, tried to nap and drink a lot and rest. Ran my errands, clean the house, work in yard, felt great! I'll also add that I still haven't yet turned on the AC in the house yet, and it's not bothering like you'd think it would.
LESSON for the week: YOU CAN DO THIS
NUMERICS. 11:51 for the week, doesn't count commute
SWIM LOL
