Dark2Dawn recovery week

Monday
BIKE 20 miles in 1:25
COMMUTE 9.2 miles

To my surprise I did the TGP bike ride with BE Monday morning. I was slow and lacked spark, but I did it. No specific pains, just tired. The commute was also tired and lacked energy. Of course it did!  I also have a rough cough going, sometimes productive. Feels really low in the lungs, not upper in the sinuses. Producing a super thick yellow yuck.

Tuesday
WALK 60 mins, 3-4 miles?
COMMUTE 4.8 to/from track, and 2 to/from work

I walked at the track, I honestly didn't have any run in me. At all. It was very humid and warm, that didn't help. BE and I walked, enjoyable, but after 45-50 mins I was feeling ready to quit. Wow!

SO has been saying to shut it down for a week. That it's too much. I accept this morning that he's right, and I drive to work. Used the opportunity to get my Walgreen's rx and stop by Schnucks -- when I was there Sunday post-race that were selling my Powerbars on Clearance!! I looked for them last week online and at Target Saturday. Nice find! I have enough for this year and maybe the next, lol. Not like they go bad. And WIN for not snacking on them. Bad for BDF.

Met with LC for lunch at Chic Fil A. She was celebrating her 4th place podium at Steelhead, her hubby's race. She asked about cardiologist, we talked SCAD and what it means. I'm still in denial.

New moon at 2:17pm. And some t-storms, but they didn't reach my garden. Went home and M'd a few of the Gatorade bars, they tasted pretty bad. Maybe they'd taste better after a run? But ugh. M'd. But not bad? Denial.

Later this night, I was petting my Shooga-Boo and found a remarkably large lump (half a orange-ish sized) under her jaw. Hidden under her ear flap and in the waddle of skin under her jaw. Oh man. Call vet in morning. A quick google search says salivary gland cyst or lymph node involvement. No worry until dx'd.

Wednesday
RUN 4 mile in 42 mins, 10:40 m/m, ave 137 bpm, ave 169 spm
COMMUTE only 2 miles to/from work

I was determined to see how a run would feel, even though I'm still having this cough that hurts now. And it's HOT out, super heavy air. On previous runs I've fought the temptation to run loops around BP. Doesn't it sound shorter to run 10 loops of about a mile, than it does to run 10 miles all around neighborhood? Well today was the perfect day to test that. Loops around BP would give me the opportunity to drop if I started feeling like shit.

Who am I kidding. Feel like shit or not, I'm running 4 miles.

And I did! Slow, took my time, walked 45-50 seconds after each mile. My HR was still pretty high for this, so recovery still ongoing. My left IT was painful at the start but this shook out after a mile. However after the run, my left hip hurt. So much so that I was almost limping all day. So I didn't bike it, drove like yesterday and biked up from Fo Pa.

Sugar goes to the vet in 1.5 hours. I'm still at lab running a PCR gel. Not worried on her yet. And sneezing these painful and powerful sneezes. Not sure if I'm going to make it home for the holiday, between this and the dog. Time will tell.

Vet update: could be ear infection, lung infection, not likely salivary cyst, and hopefully not lymphoma. No kennel for doggie, no trip home for me.

Thursday
BIKE 81 mins and 20 miles in TGP, afternoon after work

Woke up not feeling good. Not even good enough to join my Thursday run group! Now that's a sign that things aren't too great -- don't even want to run!?

Spent day at lab doing mouse work, my usual Thursday gig these days. Once I got home I had energy to burn. This felt OK, but kinda low energy. And the park was full of idiots gathering for their picnics and music. So my pace was slowed so I didn't hit an idiot. Intervals: 18:11, 18:24, 18:43 mins.

Friday
COMMUTE 9.2 miles

Still not feeling great. I had an idea of running today, skip or bike tomorrow, then run Sunday to get my miles in but with a break in between. Nope. Didn't feel it. Wow! My cough continues, a low in the chest messy-sounding but only somewhat productive cough. Worse when I lay down. Ugh.
