RUN 3 miles 29 mins in the morning
BIKE 20 miles in 1:22 in the afternoon
The run was a slug fest. Took me too long to get moving in the morning. I seem to do better when I follow my momentum. But it's done.
The weather was TOO PERFECT! 75-78F degrees and full sun! So my goal became to get all errands done and get an afternoon ride in. Met friends on Grand for JM's birthday brunch, then errands.
Ideally I was going to drive to MCT or Columbia to ride. Like the title said, the road has been calling. At random times the past few weeks my mind will bring me to a place I've ridden. Columbia. MCT. New Town. Those late 2014 B2B solo centuries. It's like a record-skip, flashback effect. Suddenly I'm thinking about a particular hill or intersection or moment.
But that didn't happen today. I didn't get ready to ride until 3pm, so I decided to stay with Puppy and ride a loop in town. Happily I was overdressed with a jersey and light base layer. Rather be warm than cold! We headed towards TGP, to BRR, then I picked the RDP trail to ride. The plan was to loop around to my last errand at Walgreen's.
It felt like a struggle at first, but once going it felt easier. I wasn't pushing a pace or trying to ride fast, but I was clipping along happily enough. I have some anxiety about joining group rides this spring, my cycling has deteriorated due to injury and ultra running. But I have all the faith that I'll be back soon enough as long as I'm patient.
Following the roads I found riding with RM and CM last fall, I headed back up Broadway through Carondelet to Soulard. Stopped at Walgreens (longest 2 mile errand! haha!), then home. Oh damn it felt good!
