RUN HOME 4.5 miles in 44.5 mins
Total 10 miles in 1:38
Was so cold this morning that my outdoor thermometer read "--". As in, 'you don't want to know'!
By the time I left, it had registered 19F. Ugh. But it wasn't so bad. I broke down and pulled out some hand warmers to use, had my beloved purple running jacket (a nice deep purple color so camouflage that I layer in my bright yellow vest!), my new FBR neck gaiter, and the Cascadia's for warmer feet.
My feet weren't all that warm, my hands were better than usual, and as the usual I was warm at the core. Need to keep an eye on the temps, I think it's supposed to warm up over the course of the day. I'll definitely overheat if I go home dressed the same.
Like yesterday the wind was NNW, so my entire commute in was into a biting headwind. I did what I could to run along buildings and houses. It helped in that it was just a distraction. This time I ran zigzag along city streets doing a north-west-north-west block-by-block turn to angle into work for something different. There's so many side street options that I've never seen before!
My goal for the run in was to keep it EASY, so that the run home isn't such a slog like it was last week.
-----
The run home was still a slog, just seems like an awful long way! Maybe I'm still in the 3-miles-habit from the old house? And NO it did not warm up. But my hand warmers from the morning run were still working (sealed them in foil all day) and that was a bonus too. And there was an accumulation of snow, just under an inch? Pretty! I liked looking at the snowflakes against my black gloves, smiled when a flake would land on my face :)
Saw MikeW near UCBC! And stopped to talk to Louis near the school, I love seeing him most every day :) These were bright spots on the run. All felt good. Listened to my TJM podcast, laughed at "tip shields" (running gear for the men?, I'm afraid to google and find out!).
