Did last week's speed work!

RUN 6.2 miles in 54.5 mins
BIKE COMMUTE 9.5 miles

Last week I skipped out on my planned speed work. I was going to the "the session I was supposed to do" but it's funny to think that I approach this as "supposed to". It's different from the "should" vs "want" mental approach. Before I get off topic...

I was feeling pretty flat again this morning, more headache and zippo energy. While walking the dog I began to think my run was really gonna suck, never doubting that I'd run, but wondering how it would go. In the end, it went great!

Plan said 30 mins of continuous 1 lap on/ half lap off at the track. Maybe 75% for the on, 60% for the off. I did the first 15 mins in one direction, then reversed for the last 15 mins. This wasn't bad at all. Admittedly boring, but oddly enough much less boring that the run I did last week instead!!  Having a time or distance goal, the need to push and pull the effort, and the on/off of a run like this keeps the mind more engaged.

After the Garmin Gadgets clinic by BS, we have a hypothesis about why my Garmin measures different distances when I run the track in opposite directions. We came up with it independently -- the Garmin is on the outer shoulder in one direction and on the inner shoulder in the other direction. I'm eager to measure this, but I want to do it at the SLU track where the original measurements were made. But I'm thinking about it :)

The weather has cooled off again, back to the expected seasonal temps of high 30's and low 40's. Tomorrow's forecast has cold rain (maybe snow?) in the forecast for my inbound run commute.

A few other updates, since I have some time here. My shoulder is doing OK, some of my home PT exercises have plateaued but overall the function is improving. I have no other pains or injuries -- my bruised knees are recovering and the side of my foot that blistered Sunday at Greenrock is OK. I have some mild pain in my left foot on the sole, like between the arch and heel? It's been there a few days, maybe since Greenrock?

This foot pain prompted me to took at my shoe mileages. Today I wore the Adrenaline Caribbeans and they felt really flat. Yup, they are over 500 miles! My Adrenaline Lotus Purples are at 277, so it's time to blend in another pair. And my work shoes are breaking down, and my 'house' shoes (retired Cascadia 8's!!) are also uncomfortable. Sounds like a good weekend errand in a rest weekend.
