RUN 1hr and 7 miles!
No bike commute, snow!
When I woke up and saw the temps at 23F, I admit I wasn't looking forward to a run. But there was no question of going. Blustery wind, light snow that barely accumulated, it was kinda pretty...?
Out the door with good momentum, up to the RHS track after hitting Grand for a 1.5-is mile WU. Then two laps of pick-ups on the straights. The wind was coming out of the NNW so it was headwind-tailwind-headwind-tailwind. Cold-not cold-cold-not cold. My Adrenalines squeak-squeaked-squeaked on the snow. It wasn't slick, but I wasn't running with perfect form or cadence today. Still all good.
First interval a 1600 at 75%, about 7:34 mins. One loop rest, then 2x800's at 84% in about 3:30 mins. Finally 4x400's at 85%+ in about 1:43 mins. Good paces, all consistent. When I started I thought it would have been fun to have take a picture of my footprints in the snow. "I was here MANY TIMES". By the end of the session, my footprints were either filled in or blown away.
The 100 plan was for 4 miles, the speedwork was for 50 mins, and I was honestly surprised when I saw 6.6 miles as I neared home! I thought maybe 5.5 miles. Bonus!
ETA: Wanted to remember how I couldn't press the buttons on my Garmin through the gloves and mittens. I even tried with my teeth but got an uncomfortable paint-scrape type of feeling. It was driving me nuts, so much so that as an interval ended I'd pull my gloves off in the last few seconds so I could be ready, and in the shorter 400 intervals I just left my glove off!
