Peak week long run #1: 22 miles

RUN: 22 miles in 3 hr and 42 mins. 10:15m/m

Holy cow, and I'm planning 15-some tomorrow!! I got a late start. The recent time change means the sun rises at 714am. I didn't get on the road until 740 or so. I drove to work and decided to run in the park. No set plan yet. I started out with low motivation but knew it would
get better. I also focused on slowing it down, 10m/m sounded good.

I veered out of the park and headed to delmar. Thru UC then I thought abt going up midland. That was my bike course last year. I've never run there. It's uphill outbound and down on the way back. Very urban though, all sidewalks and parking lanes. But it sounded good and hilly.

I took only the fuel belt and two gels. The infinit it working but it foams!! I took the gels every hour. This wasn't enough!! I needed both more water and fuel.

I felt great. I hit a low point around 18 miles and started counting footstrikes. 100 right foot. 100 left foot. Repeat. Repeat. Very mind numbing. Very. But come 21 miles I perked up. Finish lines can do that to you. I paused and asked myself, could I do another loop in the park? Could I do 30 today? I think I could have, with more food and later. But funny things happen at those distance. You can go from good to awful to great in minutes. So no telling if I really could have or not.

Later in the day people kept asking if I was ok! Boy wait until they see me tomorrow!
