RUN: 6 miles in 58 mins
When I started this blog in Oct 2009, one goal was to make every workout 'worth it' and memorable, so I could review this at a later date and say "oh yeah, I remember that one".
Well today's will be memorable. I woke up feeling much better but still weak. I skipped the group run and ran from the house, telling myself that way I could hold my own pace and turn around whenever I needed to. The pace needed to be easy. But turning around? As if!
Gorgeous morning, really, if I could put into words how beautiful it was...the trees are in bloom and smell great...t-shirt and shorts...sunshine and the fresh green of spring...
I started off through the Compton Rez park enjoying the wonderful day, debating the wisdom of such a run, smiling, until...I saw the graffiti. Some [CENSORED] took spray paint to the park, the rez walls, the tower, the statues,...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [CENSORED]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Keep going...keep running...honestly I was so tired and focused on one-more-step, one-more-step, that I forgot the [CENSORED] soon enough.
I looped the park, my mind unfocused and wandering. I thought about work, how much work I've missed, what caused my sickness, why I was sweating so damned much, about work, about my sister, about the manuscript, about Scully. A ticker tape of the thoughts that go through my head during a run would be a funny read.
Half way through TGP I came across a dog-walker staring at a tree. He pointed out two owls just hanging out on a branch. Enjoyed that a few moments, then kept going. Passed the ponds and thought about having a picnic there Saturday with the DH. Passed out of the TGP area and into the Rez park and saw even more graffiti. WTF?????? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [CENSORED]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I finished the run OK, worn out and tired but so happy I did it. Writing this a few hours later I'm not so sure my tummy is as happy as I am :(
Also got my first Puppy commute this morning! Not a very zippy ride, but a ride nonetheless :)
A few hours later --post-publication edit: had an opportunity to read the post of the last time I was sick like this, lots of similarities.
