SWIM: 2250y in 60mins, MS of 4x300
BIKE: 23 mi in 90 mins up Midland
This was the first Monday of DST, and I was determined to get to the swim so there would be no wondering if I forgot to set my clocks :) I made it, late as always. Surprisingly there were only 3 others in my lane so it was a more relaxed swim for me. I kept focusing on feeling the 'roll' I practice in dry land sessions. I was doing those last night and realized that I would roll too far over--a sign that I'm bringing my shoulder up too high and over. Instead I need to keep the 'weight' off to the side. But I have no good way of knowing whether or not I do that in the water!
CHG pointed out that I'm bringing my opposing hand and should towards each other. Instead try to keep them 'apart' or 'away' from each other. I like how it feels, but like most drills it feels forced.
But moving on from the swim, let's get to the highlight of the day: first weekday right outdoors! I had so little to do at work and got it all done fast. I brought Frea up to lab (where he played Ninja with a coworker) as a way to remind me to get stuff done so I could GO! It was 75-80F outside and I didn't want to miss it. Full sun and full wind too, but what's a little more wind after the past few weekends of it?
It was windy! What's worse: riding in the open flats with a steady wind, or riding in town with gusts between houses and changing crosswinds? They all kinda suck, but so does the trainer! I loved it--the bumps that hurt my butt, the left shoe that wouldn't clip in, the jerk cars that buzz me....LOVE IT.
I headed up Midland planning to U-turn at the usual spot. So that's a 20+ mi ride. How much food did I bring? NONE. WTH? So by the time I returned to FoPa I was mentally fuzzed. By the time I got back to lab I was getting off the elevator on the wrong floor. Then I sat in the break room with just a green smoothie to tide me over. I ended up going home worn out, tired, and weak. Ugh, gotta plan that better.
By the end of the night, all I wanted was to go to bed. Bring on the Iron training!
