Thursday BIKE COMMUTE 9.5 miles
Friday STRENGTH 1:00 and BIKE COMMUTE 20 miles
Saturday BIKE 27 miles in about 1:45
Sunday RUN 7 miles in 1:16, a 10:30 m/m pace
Recovery from CMAR was slow! Didn't help that the right ribs were hurting and my sleep was poor. Most of all my motivation was really lacking. While listening to my Journey to 100 podcast Thursday before the group run I heard the coach say that he plans 5 complete days of rest after an effort like this. So even though I'd dressed to run Thursday morning, it didn't leave me feeling guilty when in the end I didn't run and instead met LC for brekkie. IT joined us after his 4 miler, felt wonderful to sit and chat with them!
Friday I did go to the gym for training, all the focus on the legs. After Tuesday's felt-worse-afterwards lesson we adjusted the focus. I asked 3 specific questions: what is the next phase, what can we incorporate that is trail running specific, and what to do with my new spirulina powder? ha!
Saturday was a mentoring ride out of CCP, rode to Pitman and back with a few extra miles tacked on. It really felt great to be on the bike, except for the fact that I still can't stand up or breath deep without rib pain. Somewhere around mile 21 I was getting miserable but I pulled through the mental low. But no brick run. Ugh, not yet.
Sunday's run was tough but I did feel good that I did it. I was having a really low motivation morning and ended up propping myself up on some mint candies before the run. Was the mental or physical? Not sure. My plan was for 4 miles but it turned into 7, I take that as a good sign, it means I'm getting back into my normal. But after my stretch (following my new rule of 1 mins stretch per 1 mile run), hydrating, and a shower I actually napped in the recliner for 30-some mins! I don't think I fully slept but I did stop moving and rest. I need more of that I think to get through this recovery.
Not counting it as a workout, but biked to LP for dinner at T and K's. :) Ate LOTS of carrot and chicken. Good for my brain and body, not great for my tummy though.
