OMG still hot and hurting

RUN 6.2-ish miles in just under an hour
BIKE COMMUTE 9.5 miles

The 'severe heat advisory' continues, but I can only blame that in part for how this morning went.

Yeah, you read that right. Didn't finish the loop. But let me explain. LC, IT, and I are all recovering. LC had triple bypass 2 weeks ago, and both of them had half-irons this past weekend. Even though both races were shortened for bad weather, still the effort and travel to recover from. So when EW and RE showed up just as we were heading out, I happily waited for them to catch.

Unlike yesterday in which my rib only kinda hurt, today it really hurt. No acute pain bad, but definitely distracting, and affecting my breathing and run form. Heck, I couldn't even talk. When I tried I was gaspy and voice shaky. Of course, I kept going.

BE talked Broadway and theater for the first 3.82 miles, then we stopped for a drink. Focusing on his voice is what kept me going, and I learned something today! I stopped the Garmin, forgot to restart it (which is how I know the mileage), and after the water stop ran with LC. BE and IT got ahead of us, and both of us just took it easy. But when we hit the cross walk in the last half mile, LC deemed it time to walk. When she feels the need to walk, then she really needs to walk. At first I though I could push us through the last 0.3 or so mile, but no. Not a good idea and I'm glad I didn't. Neither of us needed that 0.3 mile of running.

I felt miserable, hot, dehydrated, but happy to have it finished. In the parking lot prior to the run we were joking about the mental tricks we played to keep ourselves going. Mine was the "just run to the next crack in the pavement and you can walk". Haha, I used that in my first marathon! And I've used it since! But didn't use it today.

Rest of the day -- legs shaky, tired, but I'm awake and hydrating. Gotta get to bed early tonight as I have PT tomorrow morning and then 12 hours after that a night run with TV at L&C.

Oh, and I googled 'osteopenia & rib fractures'. Turns out ribs are one of the 'frailty' indicators. :(

And I have a sorta sharp pain in my upper back still, mostly feel it on the bike. Not sure if it's some damage (don't think so), some tight muscles, after effects of sleeping in the recliner?
