Recovery by long run

RUN 10.4 in 1:45.

I fell asleep late and slept in, yet I felt awful when I woke up. Groggy, fatigued, Rich described it as awake but not aware. And CP put a 105 min run in the schedule? Really? Was my schedule like TH’s, which CP said he needed to change? Is this a carrot, a dare, or a bad idea?

I finally got ready to run around 7am, and decided to run from home to TGP. I also decided to run for time and not distance, and that when 1:45 came around I would STOP.

I felt weak in the first mile, better in the 2nd, and mentally absent from mile 2-10. Minutes would go by that I don’t really know what I was thinking about. I do know that I had a low foot lift and a fast cadence, and that keeping good form kept the run easy. My lungs were bursting but the HR was only in the 140s. That’s not a high number, but it’s high for the effort and pace. But it’s a good number considering my fatigue.

The fatigue and fuzz I woke up with was gone by the end of the run, and as I like to say—it’s like the carbon was blown off the plugs. I feel energized and ready to go! So much so that I browsed a few ideas for next year’s racing: how does Great Floridian 2013 sound for a birthday iron??

My stomach is still not processing food well. I’m not sure what to eat, except to keep pushing clean, normal foods into it and hope for the best.
