Thursday OFF

Hoo boy. These are hard to remember. The last week was a whirlwind.

Friday was supposed to be a day off, but I wanted to get the swim in and liked the idea of a back-to-back swim as prep for the Triple T. I was slow on the 100s, doing only 1:50's. I felt OK but just couldn't get the catch right.

Saturday was a mini triathlon superday at New Town. It started out with 4 loops in my brand new (as in I cut the tags off that morning!) 2XU wetsuit. I wanted each lap to feel the same steady pace, I managed each one in about 19-20 mins. The last one I was a little fuzzed on.  The bike was a FAST ride with DC and two other club members. I need more rides like this one in which we are ABP the whole way. The run started off with DC pushing a 7: 42 pace for the first mile before slowing down. Once I realized how fast we were going I slowed down. This was my first run in the new Kinvara 2 shoes. They didn't feel as good as the 1 shoes. I didn't feel so good either, what a day! Gawd I love it!

After this, packed up and left for IL. Once there I got a hilly (sort of,  bike in on the roads near home, a great swim/run brick using the canal path, and another more relaxed ride on the same hilly-ish roads before heading home Tuesday night.

Once home on Tuesday, I started Triple T packing starting with an attack on the pantry for gels, powders, and more. The counter was covered under a pile of calories.

Wednesday was just the only day I had to catch-up on everything. I skipped my swim to spend some time with the on-vacation DH. I went to work and rushedly infected a large number of mice after giving away some mice-decorated cupcakes. At 3pm I had an appt with Dr H for pre-race taping and some conversation about pain. More on that in the race report.

Then off to home to finish packing. All day I'd worked on a list that seemed somewhat extreme. The dining room floor was the staging area for checklists, confusion, more checking, indecision, and more checking. This is good prep for CDA. I should start my lists now.

Once done it was too late to start my run so I hopped on the trainer for an hour to burn off some energy. I'm not sure I should even count that in my mileage, it was junk junk junk.

On Thursday morning, we took off for the Triple T. It seemed I'd packed most everything I owned and that I had more calories than clothing. I gotta get organized.
