12 miler in taper

RUN: 12 miles in 1:41.

This was in 2 sections. The first was one loop with the normal Thurs group--6.5 miles in 52:30, an ave pace of just over 8 m/m. Then I took a few minutes for a break, sipped some water and had a gel.
The second part was 5.5 miles in 48 mins, ave pace of just abt 8:45 m/m.

I was zipping along in the light rain, feeling good, and realized that I was going to hit 12 miles in about 1:40. I had another realization that if I continued to 13.1, I might be able to PR my half-mary time! Then I had yet another realization that today's time doesn't count since I took a few mins break in the middle. Nuts.

In other news, the right ankle injury from last fall is nagging again. Not full-blown out-of-place problems, but if I flex my foot to far it hurts. I'm wondering if I should tape it? I know what I did to it--I stepped off a curb a few days ago and felt the "ping". It wasn't just that I stepped off the curb, it was that I did it after a 34 mile week. Everything is injury-prone right now.

The taper is feeling good, this was my last long run I think. Now only if I could get out of work more to enjoy the 'new' free time I'll have not running!
