Thursday run

RUN: 8.5 miles in 75 mins. One loop in the park (55 mins, 8:30-ish), then 2 miles extra at a resting pace (10's).

This run for me really drove home the point that I'm not feeling well. I struggled to keep up, even though my training hours have been low for the past week and a half. What's going on? Long hours in the house, very poor eating habits, not taking care of myself. I get up early and starting working around 7am. I work all day, not eating because my hands are a mess, then I wrap up around 9:45 with a shower. I do eat, but it's more of a passing through the kitchen- wash my hands- grab something and go- type of meal. My sleep is good but short. That's a good summary of the last 1.5 weeks.

I laugh to think that going back to work on Monday, thus ending my vacation, will be the most relaxing thing I've done in weeks.

Time to get back on track! Only 3 months to IMWI. As of right now, I don't feel ready for it. I feel like my long rides are too short, my swim is weak, and my run is OK but not marathon ready. But I don't have to be ready NOW, I have to be ready in 3 months. And lot of training can get done in 3 months.

But first I have to get out of this funk. Yesterday was also a wakeup call--that accident was a result of sleepiness and I'll now have the scars to show for it. Time to get the mind back on training, time to focus on what the body needs, and time to give myself the nourishment required for training. Let's make that a goal for the next few days: find a schedule, be mindful, and respect your body. It took a beating yesterday and needs time. Give it.
